The Academy of Dance

The Academy of Dance offers dance classes that include drop in classes, class series, and adult dance classes. The program provides professional dance training rooted in artistry, musicality, discipline, and human development. Through movement, students participate in technical training from their very first class through pre-professional training.

• Ages: 1.5–18 years old

Since 1993, The Academy of Dance has been dedicated to providing dance education rooted in community, creativity, and personal growth. Classes are available for ages 18 months to 18 years, including Tiny Dancers for ages 1.5–6, a Junior Division for ages 6–11, and a Pre Professional Division for ages 12 and up. The program is guided by thoughtful pedagogy and methods such as Kodály-based dance education, Progressing Ballet Technique, and Classical Pilates. The Academy of Dance is described as OC’s Dance Conservatory serving Tustin, Santa Ana, Orange, Anaheim, and Irvine.

The leadership and staff team includes Co-Directors Boroka Nagy and Mate Nagy; Program Manager and Instructor Cherise Spangler; Studio Manager Catherine Murphy; Co-Director of Performance Ensemble and Instructor Mary Tarpley; Community Manager Elijah Storm Dye; Head of Junior Program and Instructor Bridget Ridgeway; Instructors Jestoni “Jet” Dagdag, Hyoin Jun, Katie Marshall, Diana Morris, Katie Walsh, Elizabeth Tija, and Samantha Collins; and Photographer Jazley Faith.
