About
Australian Swim School offers swim lessons and swim squads. The program includes year-round instruction for infants, toddlers, children, and adults, and encourages starting infants as early as three months. Class routines emphasize group movement and technique development, and instructors use verbal, visual, and tactical corrections.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options available on weekdays and weekends, including daytime and evening hours
Australian Swim School has been family-owned since its story began in 1977, when John Bainbridge opened the first school in Fountain Valley, California. John Bainbridge opened the first Australian Swim School driven by his passion for infant swimming and a thesis on the subject, and he introduced the school’s trademark infant back floating method. The program follows a sequential structure in which each child is taught a specific set of skills to progress to the next level, with a strong focus on technique and form. The school combines the latest teaching techniques with an Aussie philosophy of “squeezing every drop of fun out of every day” and offers a progressive program that emphasizes correct technique from the beginning. Its mission states that its goal is to instill a lifelong relationship with the water through developmentally sound swimming instruction in a fun and safe environment, maintain high-quality instruction through staff training and program review, and provide customer service that keeps families informed and feeling welcome. Generations of families have participated in Australian Swim School, and the school has focused on educating the local community about the importance of water safety, especially for infants and toddlers. Families can use a mobile application to enroll, check student attendance, book parties, and more.
