Over the past 36 years, the Orange County Crazies has remained the longest-running and most prominent comedy organization of its kind in Orange County, and in 2026 it is celebrating its 36th year. The “Lil Crazies” program has been a staple of the school for more than 20 years and offers a seven-session workshop series throughout the year and a summer camp, and its thriving “‘Lil Crazies” program will be ongoing. Most classes culminate in a graduation show before a live audience at the conclusion of the performance course, graduation performances follow each weekly class series, and student grad shows are open to the public.

The OC Crazies’ many instructors include Founder and Artistic Director Cherie Kerr, a founding member of the legendary L.A. Groundlings, and various former O.C. Crazies Main Company players. Guest teachers also include former L.A. Groundlings and former Second City alum, including Senior Director at The Second City in Chicago and Toronto, Michael Gellman. Guest performers, directors, and comedy judges have included Groundlings alum and SNL player Julia Sweeney and L.A. Groundlings founder Gary Austin, and Tracy Newman is described as producer of “Ellen” and other shows.

The Orange County Crazies has received rave reviews, coveted awards, and many accolades for its highly creative and authentic works and school of study, and it has garnered stellar reviews and awards for its original and creative works, as well as for its unparalleled school of comedy. It was cited by the U.S. Secretary of Defense for having created Project Smile, a program wherein the Crazies mobilized several comedy organizations. The OC Crazies also perform for corporate “industrials” through its sister company, ExecuProv, with shows held either on-site or at a client’s location, where the actors spoof company executives and customs or perform improv pieces.

One parent, Jola Cruise, states that Cherie Kerr’s skills at teaching kids and adults improv are exceptional and describes her style as warm, fun, and engaging, noting that all three of her children attended a summer camp and loved it. Another participant, Edith Huerta, reports having had a blast in an improv course that was fun, supportive, and pushed her out of her comfort zone, and describes Cherie as a fantastic instructor full of energy. A stand-up student, Rusty Felbob, describes taking a standup comedy class, having an amazing time with a very supportive instructor and classmates, enjoying the grad show, and feeling equipped to get on stage after the 6-week course.
