Orange County Head Start and Early Head Start offers programs for pregnant women and for children from birth through age five. The program provides a whole range of services for the family, including education, health screening, nutrition, family support, and training services. Each child and family receives over $25,000 worth of these services per year.

Orange County Head Start, Inc. was established in 1979 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency and is funded by the United States Department of Health and Human Services to provide Head Start and Early Head Start services throughout all of Orange County, CA. Orange County Head Start (OCHS) partners with the United States Department of Health and Human Services to deliver these programs. The program’s teachers are all college educated and credentialed to work in California. Orange County Head Start states that it is committed to ensuring that all children, regardless of their circumstances, have the opportunity to thrive.
Parents describe their experiences with the program in several ways. One parent, Stephanie Ha, shares that she is grateful for the relationships she has built and what she has learned as a parent in OCHS, and thanks OCHS for what it has done for her children and community. Another parent, Thanh Lind, says she is extremely grateful to have found the program and that her boys are now thriving at the top of their class in elementary school. Parent and Policy Council Representative Amber Robins says that OCHS is providing an opportunity to keep families thriving at school, at home, and at work, and that she knows her child is safe with teachers and staff who love him. Policy Council Treasurer and Director Dayna Everon says she is grateful for the Head Start program and continues to share information with other families. Head Start parent Nalleli Garrido explains that after she began volunteering, she was able to learn more ways to help, share new ideas, and take on a leadership role.
