Beyond Blindness Education + Enrichment and Summer Camp Programs

Beyond Blindness Education + Enrichment and Summer Camp Programs include vision stimulation, therapy services, toddler classroom learning, itinerant education support with a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), Orientation & Mobility (O&M) training, and summer camps. The program also offers assistive technology training, peer groups, expanded core curriculum activities, life-skills development, inclusive family events, counseling, access to a licensed social worker, a resource center, and a low vision clinic.

Beyond Blindness, formerly Blind Children’s Learning Center, states that its mission is to empower children with visual impairments and other disabilities to achieve their fullest potential. The organization offers Early Intervention, Education + Enrichment, Family Support, Vision Services, Therapy Services, and Summer Camp programs as part of its Journey of Care® integrated approach, which has different entry points for families. Programs guide children ages 0–22 and their families, and include both home-based and center-based Early Intervention services, itinerant education support within public school classrooms, and a Leadership Academy for young leaders with vision loss. Beyond Blindness was founded in 1962 by six blind individuals in support of adults with visual impairments and is described as a leading accredited organization for children with visual impairments and other disabilities in Orange County, licensed by the Department of Social Services. The organization serves more than 300 children with visual impairments and other disabilities as well as their families.
