The primary focus of Academy of Koei-Kan Karate-Do is to give children the opportunity to build inner strength and leadership skills that allow them to stand out amongst their peers. Koei-Kan Karate-Do is described as an original style of Japanese karate that can be traced back to roots in Okinawa, Japan and China, and is presented as a disciplined form of martial arts that has not been changed or Americanized from its traditional ways. The kids’ program is described as a character building program, and the kids’ class is stated to improve self-confidence, self-esteem, responsibility, discipline, and respect, with traditional martial arts practice described as enabling a true sense of personal growth without an emphasis on competition. The program notes that traditional karate is a blend of self defense discipline, Japanese culture, and mental awareness, and that the confidence gained from Karate-Do will enhance both self-esteem and self-image.

High intensity interval group training sessions are stated to maximize cardiovascular conditioning, agility, balance, footwork, and mental toughness, and group classes are described as helping students develop a positive mental attitude for everyday living and helping in the reduction of stress. Training is offered five days per week in traditional Koei-Kan Karate, with group training two times each week in addition to unlimited individual instruction during regular hours, and options for private training, at-home private instruction, and work with a personal trainer. Friday night sparring, also called Friday Night Fights, is available for students who are in the regular program and have completed a minimum of 20 hours of training, and all students must know the first 5 basic combinations to participate in Fight Night; Bogu armored training is described as helping students “know yourself.” The program also mentions youth ballet, full contact training, stand up, takedowns, weapons training, and lessons in both group classes and private instruction. Academy of Koei-Kan Karate-Do is a member of Koei-Kan Karate-Do International and the All Japan Karate-Do Association, and it invites families to register for a free week.
