Nature Adventures Camps offers camps that bring kids into contact with nature and get them excited about science. Camps take place in settings that include museum backyards, oak woodlands, and spaces with interactive science exhibits and activities.

The program is part of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, which was founded in 1916 as the Museum of Comparative Oology. In 1922, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History opened its doors at its current campus, and in 1986 the Museum added the Sea Center as an off-campus facility. The Museum’s leadership includes President & CEO Luke J. Swetland. The Museum’s mission is to inspire a thirst for discovery and a passion for the natural world. Museum education programs serve all ages to promote scientific literacy and instill a passion for nature and learning, and the Museum includes more than 3.5 million specimens covering every aspect of natural history. Interactive exhibits include the newly-renovated Gladwin Planetarium, and guests can explore nature on 17 acres of oak woodland along Mission Creek, encounter marine life at the Sea Center, use oceanographic tools on the Wet Deck, and see life-size replicas of a Gray Whale mother and calf. The Museum participates in Richard Louv’s Children & Nature Network, the Leave No Child Inside Santa Barbara collaborative, and is a longstanding partner in the White Abalone Restoration Consortium.
