About
Children & Youth Religious Education offers catechism classes that meet once a week, with books given to students on the first day of catechism. The program is part of the broader Religious Education offerings for children and adults at Our Lady of Peace Church and Shrine, which include integrated formation of the person in spiritual, moral, intellectual, and emotional aspects.
• Schedule: Catechism Office Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm to 8:15pm, Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm, and Saturdays from 9:00am to 10:45am, with the office closed on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays; the first week of catechism classes is September 16, 2025, and classes are once a week.
• Price: The registration fee is $100 for First Holy Communion, Continuing Education, RCIA, and Post Confirmation classes; Confirmation classes are $150; families with three or more children pay a maximum of $300.
The program follows the mission of the Our Lady of Peace Religious Education program, which states that it strives to form children, youth, and adults in the Catholic faith through a solid, integral, and thorough education faithful to the Magisterium of the Church, with the goal that not only individual children, youth, or adults, but the entire family, may be guided towards Heaven for the rest of their lives. Most catechists are bilingual, and all classes are in English. The program states that financial difficulties should never prevent a child or youth from attending the catechism program. Families are asked to come to the catechism office with a copy of the birth, baptism, and First Communion certificate. Leadership for Children’s Religious Education is provided by Sr. Maria Virgin de Izamal, and Adult Religious Education is led by Mother Revelacion, SSVM.
