Baila Baila Spanish Program was established in 2010 as a bilingual program for teaching Spanish and has offered music, yoga, storytime, toddler-oriented preschool programming, library time, and arts and crafts as part of its historical offerings. The founder, Isabel Brazon, is an immigrant from Venezuela, a mother of two, and the creator of the Baila Baila bilingual program for teaching Spanish. She studied education and social communications in Caracas, Venezuela, completed an AA in Graphic Design in the United States, and has experience teaching Spanish privately, in parent and me classes, and at several elementary and high schools in Los Angeles.
The program’s mission is to make Spanish learning engaging, accessible, and fun while supporting early language development and confidence, and it states that it is a passionate advocate of bilingual education that uses music, movement, and creativity to inspire families to embrace Spanish language learning and Latino culture and heritage. Baila Baila also offers options for families to create their own group of three or more children for in-home group classes or educational playdates, as well as private and semi-private Spanish classes and enrichment and after school programs where a Baila Baila teacher can come to centers. The program maintains a YouTube channel with short instructional videos posted weekly to help children and parents build vocabulary and learn basic expressions, and it has released four musical albums—“Baila Baila,” “Amarillo,” “A Volar,” and “Maracas”—which are used internationally in bilingual and immersion programs.
Baila Baila serves LA County Libraries, LA City Libraries, New Jersey Libraries, Brooklyn Libraries, various unincorporated city libraries, LAUSD, and the Simi Valley School District through its Bilingual Family Show, and the Baila Baila bilingual band has been featured at the LA Times Festival of Books, the Arts and Literacy Festival, and the Los Angeles Libros Festival. In 2023, Isabel Brazon received the Australian Global Artist of the Year Award from the Funky Kids Radio Show and is the Spanish voice for the Family Math program, an initiative by PBS SoCal introducing preschoolers to math concepts through music. Families are asked to wear comfortable clothes, be ready to participate with their children, register for each class they plan to attend, and provide caregiver contact and emergency information when a caregiver attends for the first time.
