The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County was founded in 2005 and opened its doors in 2014. Its mission is to inspire curiosity and creativity through joyful, transformative experiences. The museum states that its experiential exhibits are rooted in current early childhood research and engage children in joyful discovery experiences that develop foundational skills, create lasting memories, and spark a lifelong love of learning. The organization has an Equity Statement that emphasizes expanding access for learners of all abilities, children from every background, and families from across the region, and it hosts a Dino Trax event described as a “Jurassic-sized day of discovery.” Each year, the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County supports many local nonprofit organizations and schools by donating tickets to assist in fundraising efforts.
