About

Gracie Barra Kids is a Jiu-Jitsu program where children practice Jiu-Jitsu, self-defence, takedowns, and ground techniques. Classes follow a structured curriculum that is designed for safety, consistency, and progress, and the program is tailored to children’s age and developmental stage. Participants train in an environment described as safe and supportive, with a focus on confidence, discipline, respect, focus, physical ability, and essential self-defence skills.

• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: Class options are available during school hours and in the late afternoon and evening on weekdays, with additional Saturday morning classes.

Gracie Barra Kids is part of one of the largest Jiu-Jitsu organizations worldwide, with more than 1,000 schools, over 100,000 students, and more than 2,000 annually certified instructors. Certified Gracie Barra instructors are trained in the methods outlined by founder Master Carlos Gracie Jr. through the Gracie Barra Instructor Certification Program, which connects instructors to his methods and strategies. Gracie Barra was founded in 1986 by Master Carlos Gracie Jr., and its stated mission is to teach “Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone.” Families in this program also have access to GB Online, which offers exclusive video instruction, techniques, and training resources anytime, anywhere.

Parents and students describe the school as having skilled and supportive instructors, a welcoming community, and a structured class format suited to young children, with one parent noting that a 6-year-old attends classes twice a week and that the schedule offers flexibility for a busy family. Multiple testimonials describe the experience as life changing, highlight support for children dealing with bullying or abuse, and mention that staff encourage improvements in skills and training. New students have reported feeling supported even with no prior training. For classes, children are asked to bring a water bottle, comfortable activewear such as shorts, leggings, and a t-shirt, easy-to-remove slip-on shoes like flip-flops or sandals, and a positive attitude with an open mind, while a Gracie Barra Gi and rashguard are provided for their first class.
