Shotokan Karate Leadership School offers Kids Karate, Adult Martial Arts, and Shotokan Karate classes, along with Leadership Training. The program includes the Shotokan Karate Martial Arts Leadership Program and the Black Belt Shoka Leader Program, which both train students to defend themselves and to lead.

Shotokan Karate Leadership School was founded in 1981 by Marty Callahan. Marty Callahan is an 8th Degree Black Belt and a graduate of the Japan Karate Association Instructor Training Program. The leadership team is described as Marty Callahan, founder of Shotokan Karate Leadership School; Chief Master Marty Callahan; and Sensei Marty Callahan.
Shotokan Karate Leadership School states that it is committed to unlocking the full potential of every individual through the transformative power of martial arts, using Shotokan Karate to train leaders of the future who will solve the world’s problems, and to awaken the extraordinary leader in each person. The program includes a proprietary Shotokan Karate Martial Arts Leadership Program in which children and parents are trained not only to defend themselves but also to lead, and a proprietary Black Belt Shoka Leader Program that trains students to not only defend themselves but to lead. The leadership training program is modeled after the Hero’s Journey, with a focus on instilling discipline, enhancing confidence, and nurturing resilience, and it emphasizes a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment with programs customized to suit individuals of all ages, skill levels, and physical abilities. Programs are offered for children, teenagers, adults, and individuals with special needs.
Shotokan Karate Leadership School has committed to educating their entire community, as described on a martial arts website. The school has received the Go2 Karate BEST Business Award. First-time VIP visitors are offered an exclusive download of a free white paper titled “How Martial Arts Helps Children Thrive In School,” authored by Sensei Marty Callahan, as well as a free e-book download. Parent and student comments include thanks from a former student, Dean Jones, who said the training he received there gave him the foundation for a wonderful life and helped him in innumerable ways. Another parent, Janice Shipley, shared that her son Jared trained there about 25 years ago after being bullied at school and later became a physician practicing in Portland, Oregon. Jim Thompson stated that his son, now a professor at an Ohio university, was strongly influenced by what he learned at Shotokan Karate Leadership School and that the training will carry him through the rest of his life. Arise Campbell commented on feeling comfortable with Marty Callahan’s presentation and with him being her son’s instructor, and described what he is doing as very positive. Sherry Paine described watching a class of about 25 kids sitting up straight and listening, and noted that she liked the way morals were incorporated into the class. Kim Corn reported that people noticed a big difference in her child Jordan since starting karate at Shotokan Karate Leadership School, describing that he went from being quiet and keeping to himself to being very talkative and more confident and sure of himself.
