Wonder Camp is part of the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County, which was founded in 2005 and opened its doors in 2014. The camps are run by a Ph.D. biologist, Dr. Dan Levitis, who is the Camps Manager and Volunteer Manager, and is a father, environmental educator, and zoologist. The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County states that it inspires curiosity and creativity through joyful, transformative experiences and that its experiential exhibits emphasize hands-on engagement and learning through play with a focus on art, nature, and science. The museum notes that its Nature-based Wonder Camps feature nature-focused exploration, hands-on learning, and themes such as Nature Explorer’s Toolbox, Hop, Slither, and Slide, The World Below, Amazing Animal Powers, Aquatic Explorers, Flap, Glide, and Soar, Garden Paradise, Adventures in Air & Space, and Unbounded Biodiversity, and that the program is rooted in current early childhood research.

The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County states that it supports the work of parents, caregivers, and educators in raising happy, healthy, and strong children, and that each year it supports many local nonprofit organizations and schools by donating tickets to assist in fundraising efforts. All campers must be fully potty trained, and parents are asked to review the Emergency and Medical Release Form for detailed information and important policies on cancellations, child protection, bathroom use, weather, and more.
