Storybook Village Preschool

Storybook Village Preschool offers guided visits to the creek where children observe the ever-changing creek ecosystem, search for birds and wildlife, and investigate the wonders of the plant world. The program includes hands-on gardening to table learning, shared reading experiences in a literacy-rich environment with quality books indoors and outdoors, and age-appropriate reading skills built through the Zoo-phonics Multisensory Language Arts Program. Creek groups go out in small groups of 2 to 6 children, depending on age, and meals are served friendship-style with teachers joining children at the table while children are encouraged to choose what they want to eat.

Since opening its doors in 2019, Storybook Village Preschool has offered a Reggio-inspired, relationship-driven program that emphasizes connection to self, others, culture, community, and the natural world. It is a play-based, friendship-centered preschool serving children from toddlerhood through Transitional Kindergarten and growing an edible garden connected to the school kitchen. The program embraces families’ cultures and traditions and describes itself as a place where all children and their families can feel comfortable being themselves, while inviting loved ones from home to lunch and providing many ways to build strong and positive home-school connections, including sign-ups for school news, parent education, community resources, and special celebrations. Storybook Village Preschool serves families across Sonoma County, is the first and only private preschool in Sonoma County to serve as a Partner Implementation Site for the California Collaborative on the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CA CSEFEL) Teaching Pyramid, and is a California Mentor Site for Social & Emotional Development. It is a Reggio-inspired preschool in the heart of Montgomery Village that hires loving educators to be part of its preschool family, operates as a year-round, full-day nurturing care and education program, and notes that the 2026–27 school year is full.
