Storybook Village Preschool

Storybook Village Preschool offers guided visits to the creek where children explore, observe, and connect with the natural world in small creek groups of 2 to 6 children, depending on age. Children investigate the wonders of the plant world, search for birds and wildlife, observe the ever-changing creek ecosystem, and take part in hands-on gardening to table learning, including growing an edible garden. The program also includes shared reading experiences in a literacy-rich environment with quality books indoors and outdoors, along with the Zoo-phonics Multisensory Language Arts Program, and meals are served friendship-style with teachers joining the children at the table and inviting loved ones from home to lunch.

Since opening its doors in 2019, Storybook Village Preschool has served children from toddlerhood through Transitional Kindergarten for families across Sonoma County. The program is relationship-driven and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, with a Reggio-inspired philosophy that emphasizes connection to self, others, culture, community, and the natural world. Storybook Village Preschool embraces families’ cultures and traditions and hopes each family's support network expands as they become members of its caring preschool community. The preschool is the first and only private preschool in Sonoma County to serve as a Partner Implementation Site for the California Collaborative on the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CA CSEFEL) Teaching Pyramid and is also a CA Mentor Site for Social & Emotional Development.
