About
The Little Big Riding School Kids Camps include horseback riding lessons, trail riding, horse grooming, horse bathing, and general equine care. Campers also take part in crafts related to the camp theme, share horses with a class partner in Basic Camp, and finish the week with a horse decorating contest, with a Christmas-themed horse decorating contest and gifts for all at Winter Camp.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Kid's Basic Week-Long Camps run for one week, with 8:30 am check-in and camp from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm; Winter Camp runs Monday–Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
• Price: Kid's Basic Week-Long Camps 2026 cost $500.00 per camp; Winter Camp costs $500.00 per week
The Kid's Basic Week-Long Camps for 2026 are scheduled as Camp One June 29–July 3, Camp Two July 6–July 10, and Camp Three August 3–7. Winter Camp runs December 28–January 1, 2026. Lunches are not included and must be brought each day, and families are asked to bring sunscreen, water, and snacks. Helmets and boots are available, parents are always welcome to attend the camps, space is limited and registration requires contacting Cindy, a deposit of 50% of camp fees is required to reserve a spot, and there are no refunds for cancellation after June 1st.
The Little Big Riding School is the longest running western riding school for little people in the Santa Ynez Valley and surrounding areas and was established in 1994. Cindy McClellan, owner of The Little Big Riding School in Santa Ynez, has been actively involved with horses since age 5, trained under local trainers Tom Shelly and Sandy Collier, and has managed ranches since 1982 in Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez, California, with 40 years of experience. Cindy provides after-school Western horseback riding lessons for child and teenage riders, trail-riding activities for the whole family, summer and Christmas camps for kids, general horse boarding and training facilities, and operates the Dunn School Horse program during the summer months. Cindy is a member of the Santa Ynez Valley Equestrian Association and a past member of Santa Ynez Valley Trail Riders, The Fillies, Valley Penners Association, and The National Barrel Horse Association, and has participated in many events with Rancheros Vistadores. The Little Big Riding School offers kids riding lessons, kids summer camps, and trail rides for all, and uses the statement “Everyone can ride!”
