About
Summer Horse Camp includes riding lessons, trail rides, lunch rides, games on horseback, horse shows, drill teams, and the chance to try vaulting. Campers work directly with horses through grooming, saddling, bridling, feeding, cleaning, knot-tying, and equine first aid. Instruction also covers horse breeds, breeding, training, obstacle courses and figure work, basic caveletti work, beginning jump, working with poles on the ground, raised caveletti, gymkhana courses, stock seat pattern work, precision riding, drill teamwork, mane and tail braiding, leg wrapping, bandaging, and horse exercise techniques. Each child is assigned a horse to ride and care for during the entire session, and a counselor skilled in leadership and horsemanship supervises and instructs the group.
