Saratoga Parent Nursery School

Saratoga Parent Nursery School offers a Stay & Play Afternoon class where parents or caregivers stay with their child and use a rich preschool environment. The program also offers a licensed morning preschool class with mixed ages of 2–3 year olds and an optional Lunch Bunch add-on. Classes are kept small, and parent participation is part of the program structure.

• Schedule: 9-month program from September through May with morning licensed preschool options (Monday–Friday, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, or Tuesday/Thursday) and a Stay & Play Afternoon class

Since 1947, Saratoga Parent Nursery School has operated as a community-focused program, first as a babysitting co-op and later as a parent participation nursery school incorporating in 1957. For over 75 years, it has functioned as a parent participation nursery school where parents work closely with teachers and participate in their child’s education. Each class is directed by an experienced teacher in early childhood education and development, and parent participation contributes to a high adult-to-child ratio and low monthly tuition.

The school’s mission is to foster physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth in each child by allowing exploration and discovery in a playful and meaningful way. Classroom routines aim for a balance between imagination, creativity, and structure, and the program works toward building a foundation that helps set the pace for a lifelong love of learning.

Saratoga Parent Nursery School is licensed through the State of California (#434414728). It is a member of the California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools (CCPPNS) and participates in the Santa Clara Valley Council (SCVC). The school admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and does not discriminate on these bases in its policies or programs.

The preschool serves families from across the South Bay and Bay Area, including Saratoga, Los Gatos, Cupertino, Los Altos, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and San Jose, and it celebrates the diversity present in this community. The preschool and yard were completely rebuilt in 2000–2001.
