About
Saratoga Parent Nursery School offers a Stay & Play Afternoon class where parents or caregivers stay with their child and take part in a rich preschool environment. The program also offers a licensed preschool class with mixed ages of 2–3 year olds, along with an optional Lunch Bunch add-on.
• Ages: 1–5 years old
• Schedule: Nine-month program from September through May with morning and afternoon class options
Since 1947, Saratoga Parent Nursery School has operated as a parent participation nursery school, originally opening as a babysitting co-op and incorporating in 1957. The preschool and yard were completely rebuilt in 2000–2001. Each class is directed by an experienced teacher in early childhood education and development. The licensed preschool class for 2–3 year olds meets from 9:00am–11:30am, with an optional Lunch Bunch until 12:30pm, and families can choose Monday–Friday, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, or Tuesday/Thursday options. The Stay & Play Afternoon class meets Monday through Thursday from 3:30–5:00pm, has limited parent responsibilities and paperwork, and is not part of the licensed program because there is no drop-off option.
Saratoga Parent Nursery School is a parent participation nursery school with small class sizes and a high adult-to-child ratio, and parent participation keeps monthly tuition low. The program is community-focused and celebrates the diversity in the community. Saratoga Parent Nursery School is licensed through the State of California (#434414728) and is a member of the California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools (CCPPNS) and the Santa Clara Valley Council (SCVC). It serves families from Saratoga, Los Gatos, Cupertino, Los Altos, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and San Jose. The mission of Saratoga Parent Nursery School is to provide a community-focused preschool experience where parents and children learn and grow in a loving environment, to foster physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth in each child through playful and meaningful exploration, to balance imagination, creativity, and structure in classroom routines, and to help set the pace for a lifelong love of learning.
