Friendship Explorations Summer Camps

Friendship Explorations Summer Camps include Kindergarten Readiness Camps, Confident Readers Camps, and Friendship Explorations Outdoor Programming. Camp activities described by parents include obstacle courses, crafts, games, and swinging and spinning on an “Aladdin looking magic carpet” hanging from a ceiling. Some children attend camp in connection with a thorough evaluation and weekly therapy appointments or weekly sessions at Ready Set GO Therapy.

Friendship Explorations was founded by Corry in 2015 and was brought to Ready Set GO Therapy in the spring of 2020. The program is connected with Ready Set GO Therapy, which offers occupational and speech therapy services and has a great gym space. The mission for this work is stated as: “Empowering kids to lead joyful lives.”

The leadership team includes Leigh Burkey – OTR/L, Co-Founder/Executive Director; Jamie Close – MSOT, OTR/L – Executive Director; Corry – MOT, OTR/L – Director of Outdoor Programming, Friendship Explorations; Danielle – M.S., CCC-SLP – Speech Therapist, Speech Director; and Gigi – MSOT, OTR/L – Occupational Therapist, OT Director. Staff credentials include Occupational and Speech Therapists; OTR/L; MSOT, OTR/L; MOT, OTR/L; M.S., CCC-SLP; and MD Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics. Danielle has received the Distinguished Early Career Professional award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and Corry was voted “Most likely to do OT at the beach” by her peers of OT graduate students.

Parents and professionals report that Ready Set GO Therapy has done parent and teacher education workshops at a campus and that therapists work closely with parents and schools to support each individual child. Multiple parents describe their children doing obstacle courses, crafts, games, and weekly sessions at Ready Set GO Therapy as part of their experience with the program. A Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics MD describes Ready Set GO Therapy as a resource for Marin County and Bay Area families and notes that it has a great gym space.
