• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Camp Made4Me, a week-long sleepaway camp
Play Marin offers sports, after-school programs, summer camps, and enrichment opportunities that support the healthy development of youth ages 6 to 18 in Marin County communities. Camp Made4Me is a week-long sleepaway camp for Bay Area youth in 5th–9th grade that launched this summer and was staffed by nationwide volunteers. Play Marin removes barriers to participation by providing coaches, covering league fees, arranging practices at convenient locations, and supplying equipment such as jerseys and shoes. Play Marin partners with local schools and several organizations to bring sports into the after-school routine, offer unique experiences that broaden horizons and celebrate diversity, and has partnered with State Bags and East Oakland Youth Development Center to bring camp experiences to underfunded communities.
Play Marin is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The program’s mission states that it is dedicated to providing recreational and educational opportunities for children and teenagers from diverse backgrounds, with programs designed to foster personal growth, community engagement, and leadership skills. Staff include experienced coaches and nationwide volunteers, and all staff and volunteers with direct child contact must complete mandatory background checks, including national sex offender registry checks. Play Marin emphasizes child safety with zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior, including child sexual abuse or misconduct, and uses multi-layered protection measures such as strict supervision, limited one-on-one interaction, Safesport training, 24/7 reporting, and mandatory background checks.
