About
Summer Sea Camp combines sailing and woodworking, with campers learning to sail on Pelican sailboats and practicing knot tying and navigation. The program includes hands-on woodshop projects such as building model sailboats and crafting take-home creations. Campers also take part in bay stewardship activities and special lessons on sustainable fishing techniques and SF Bay and Ocean ecology.

Each day includes time on the water learning to sail on Pelican sailboats. Daily lunch is provided by Fish Restaurant of Sausalito. The camp is limited to a maximum of 10 campers per week. No sailing or woodworking experience is required. Campers are asked to bring daily snacks, lunches, and a water bottle, and life jackets are mandatory and provided. The program recommends the ability to swim and asks for good listening and attention skills.
Spaulding Marine Center, where Summer Sea Camp is based, began in 1951 when Myron purchased the property at the foot of Gate Five Road and established Spaulding Boatworks. Spaulding Marine Center describes its mission as preserving maritime heritage through hands-on craftsmanship, training, and stewardship of the working waterfront. It also offers a year-round lineup of community events, including a monthly Storytelling Series, lectures, live music events, and history talks that focus on maritime heritage, education, and waterfront culture.
