About the provider

In 1968, Grand Master Dan Choi and several other instructors came to California from Korea to introduce Taekwondo to the United States. In 1971, Grand Master Dan Choi opened Santa Clara Valley’s first Taekwondo studio, Choi’s Institute of Taekwondo. The leadership team includes Grand Master Yong Soon Choi, Grand Master Dan Choi, Grand Master Hyun Choi, and senior instructors. The mission is to provide martial arts training based on Respect, Perseverance, Integrity, Self Confidence, and Indomitable Spirit, along with age-appropriate life skills training rooted in the history and traditions of Taekwondo.

The minimum age for starting Taekwondo at the school is five. The school says most children younger than five do not have long enough attention spans to comprehend or follow instructions well, and it is better to wait until the child is old enough to fully benefit from and enjoy the classes.
