Choi's Taekwondo Scotts Valley offers Taekwondo and Martial Arts classes that include Taekwondo lessons, Martial Arts training, and a fitness workout. Students practice self-defense skills along with specific kicking, punching, blocking, and sparring techniques in both children’s classes and teens and adults programs. The program includes an introductory option where students learn about overall physical fitness, self-defense skills, self-confidence, self discipline, leadership skills, respect for others, and listening skills.

Choi's Taekwondo Scotts Valley is a traditional Taekwondo school with children’s classes that use age-appropriate Taekwondo lessons emphasizing respect, listening skills, and social skills, and all children’s classes are taught by Grand Master Choi and/or her senior instructors. The teens and adults program emphasizes proper kicking, punching, blocking and sparring techniques, respect for self and others, perseverance, leadership abilities, and a sense of justice. The program lists benefits for children as Improved Focus, Confidence, Discipline, and Bully Defense, and benefits for adults as Stress Relief, Functional Fitness, Community, and Self-Defense.
Grandmaster Yong Choi is a Kukkiwon certified 8th Degree Black Belt with over 40 years of teaching experience and is the current President of California Unified Taekwondo Association (CUTA), the official state organization for California under USATKD, the national governing body for Taekwondo in the United States. Grand Master Yong Soon Choi, Director of Choi’s Tae Kwon Do in Scotts Valley, is a 7th Degree black belt with over 40 years of teaching experience, is the president of the California Unified Taekwondo Association, and is the first female Grand Master to run a major official Taekwondo organization in the world under World Taekwondo. The leadership team also includes Grand Master Dan Choi, founder of Choi’s Institute of Taekwondo, and Grand Master Hyun Choi, Grand Master Dan Choi’s younger brother.
The program’s mission is to provide Martial Arts training based on the principles of Respect, Perseverance, Integrity, Self Confidence and Indomitable Spirit, and to provide age-appropriate life skills training rooted in the history and traditions of Taekwondo to foster self-confidence, resilience and a strong body and mind. Choi’s Taekwondo has a long history and tradition, beginning when Grand Master Dan Choi came from Korea to California in 1968 to introduce Taekwondo to the United States and opened Santa Clara Valley’s first Taekwondo studio, Choi’s Institute of Taekwondo, in 1971. Over the years, Choi’s Taekwondo has produced many excellent Black Belts, some of whom have become national and World Cup Champions, and instructors at many Taekwondo or martial arts schools in the Bay Area got their start under Grand Master Dan Choi or Grand Master Hyun Choi. Over the past two decades, Grand Master Yong Soon Choi has received recognition nationally and internationally for her efforts in promoting and developing Taekwondo as a world sport and for her dedication to preserving the traditional teachings of Taekwondo.
