Summer Brick Camp includes activities such as stop-motion animation, set design, minifigure acting, lighting, camera angles, special effects, creative LEGO play, movie-themed activities, brick building, build challenges, and fun community builds. Campers also have access to bonus time to work on stop-motion animations, as well as activities that include coding, physics, and language arts using LEGO-based projects. The program uses LEGO Education curriculum, Technic, motorized pieces, programmable functions, and creative LEGO art techniques such as SNOT, NPU, Greebles, and SigFigs.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Weekly Monday–Friday sessions, with a partial-day base camp from 8:30 am–2:00 pm and an optional Full-Day Add-On extending the day to 8:30 am–5:00 pm
• Price: $650 per course/week
Summer Brick Camp runs in weekly sessions (Weeks 1–9), with each week running Monday through Friday. The Full-Day Add-On includes relaxed creative LEGO play and extra time to work on stop-motion animations. Brick Lab’s Summer Brick Camp features weekly movie themes or genres and beginner-friendly stop-motion animation.
The Brick Lab is on a mission to change enrichment learning one brick at a time and uses LEGO-based learning to teach and build on core academic, social, and emotional topics with a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). The Brick Lab commits to a 1:5 instructor-to-student ratio in all classes with a guarantee of 1:7 and identifies Inclusivity, Individualized Attention, and Safety as its Three Pillars of Excellence. All employees are required to be fingerprinted, background checked, and submit a negative TB test to the Scotts Valley Unified School District in order to be hired as an instructor with The Brick Lab.
The leadership team includes Jodie (President & CEO), Alexis (Director of Educational Programs), Alaina (Director of Enrichment Programs), Em (Director of After School Programs), Shelley (After-School Instructor), Leala (After-School Instructor), Becca (Instructor & Director of Social Media), and Jacob (Brick Librarian). The Brick Lab had a successful first session at Vine Hill Elementary in spring 2023. Brick Lab is locally owned and operated, contracts with schools to provide during-school enrichment programs, and offers out-of-school activities such as birthday packages and events in a LEGO Makerspace. Brick Lab provides all LEGO needed and leads attendees in fun community builds at events, offers Brick Lab Gift Cards for any class, camp, or event, and provides a free Brick Club membership for access to news, events, and exclusive deals. Brick Lab is committed to paying living wages.
