Little Ones Children’s Center

Little Ones Children’s Center is a private, family-owned, Christian-based preschool and childcare center that uses a curriculum-based program called “Learning Without Tears,” which focuses on pre-writing skills, early math, and literacy. The center offers a loving, safe, clean, and nurturing environment with playground and classroom spaces and maintains an atmosphere of respect, love, integrity, and growth.

Little Ones Children’s Center offers a New Toddler Program for children 18–36 months, along with programs for 2-year-olds (Early Learners), 3–4-year-olds (Preschool Threes), and 4–5-year-olds (Transitional Kindergarten). The program emphasizes a balance of free choice and structure and regards cultural diversity as a source of personal and community strength. The mission of the center states that it treats each child as an individual, focuses on developing and supporting the total child academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually, and encourages children to do things for themselves through cooperation and problem-solving. Each teacher at Little Ones Children’s Center meets state requirements for instruction in early childhood development, and the staff has been with the center for many years.

Little Ones Children’s Center opened in 1982 and is part of the legacy of founder Barbara Lunceford, a businesswoman, mom, and grandma who decided to start her own preschool in 1981 and whose work now encompasses three schools, including this center. The current leadership team includes Administrator Mr. Bob Brady and Administrator Miss Laurie. The founder is involved in her local church and is passionate about counseling and empowering women.

According to parent Jillian L., her children love school, enjoy having books read to them, making up their own stories, playing with other kids, coloring and creating art, and can listen well to their teacher. She reports that they learned how to behave appropriately in a classroom setting, went off to kindergarten knowing their alphabet and numbers, and could read and write some words, and she says her family will miss Little Ones Children’s Center dearly.
