About

Safe Swim SoCo – SafeSwimSolutions Program offers one-on-one aquatic safety skills lessons that include aquatic problem solving skills, safe swimming techniques, and basic swim instruction. Lessons cover short basic swims before rolling onto the back to rest and breathe, advanced arm pulls, productive kicks, basic drafting in the horizontal position, basic breath holding for safe submersions, mechanically-appropriate aquatic movement to turn and grab walls and stairs, and the basics of stroke development. Students also practice aquatic safety skills in both summer and winter clothing during the final week of lessons, and the program includes adaptive swim instruction and aquatic safety lessons along with education on proper pool barriers, pool and door alarms, how to designate a Water Watcher during active swimming times, and which flotation devices are safe for play and which reinforce drowning postures.

Safe Swim SoCo – SafeSwimSolutions Program describes itself as a safety first, swimming second drowning prevention program with the motto “Skills before thrills!” and offers several different lesson types to help children maintain skills as they grow. The program is a specialized swim program designed for children eight months and up, with lessons time-structured as short, frequent bursts of practice to aid skill retention in children under six years old. It includes adaptive swim instruction for children with ADHD, ASD, sensory avoidant or seeking behaviors, severe medical conditions, and other spectrum disorders, and deposits for time slots are non-refundable.

Instructors are highly trained, undergo yearly recertification and training, and are trained in childhood behavioral psychology, sensorimotor learning, and actual survival swimming techniques. Instructors keep active certifications in pediatric CPR and have access to medical staff, Master Instructors, and other medical and support networks.
