About
Haggin Museum Education Programs include docent-led tours, workshops, gallery talks, lectures, musical performances, festivals, self-guided tours and activities, and Museum-wide events. Families can take part in 2nd Saturdays for Families, a hands-on event that includes art projects and interactive programs, as well as activities like the Museum Family Treasure Hunt, Storefront Scavenger Hunt, and Wellness Tours. Kids Adventure Packs, coloring pages created from paintings in the museum’s collection, Theme Tours, Little ones art tour, Museums2Schools programs, the Making Space: How Artists Create the Illusion of Place virtual workshop, and the Annual Robert T. McKee Student Art Exhibition are also part of the programs.

The Education Department at the Haggin Museum states that it offers programs that educate, inspire, and engage audiences of all ages. The leadership team includes CEO Susan Obert and Director of Education Nicole D. George, along with staff such as Collections Manager Andrea Dompe, Collections Assistant Jacquelyn George, Education Assistant Jose Villalobos, Director of Marketing Amanda Zimmerman, Administrative Assistant Sherry McGee, Membership Coordinator Alex Abbley, and Museum Store Manager Karen Causi.
Kids Adventure Packs are available with five activity cards, sensory toys, sketching supplies, and a museum-themed book, and the museum supplies all materials for 2nd Saturday classes, with these activities included in regular admission. Theme Tours are developed with grade-appropriate curriculum content, the Little ones art tour for preschool to 1st grade includes storytelling and a hands-on art project, and docents can present a Museum Presentation Slide Show off-site. Museums2Schools offerings include Acorn Making for 3rd grade and Looking at horses in art for 3rd–4th grade, and the Making Space: How Artists Create the Illusion of Place virtual workshop runs 30 minutes to one hour.
The Annual Robert T. McKee Student Art Exhibition is described as the nation’s longest-running museum-sponsored student art show and includes around 1,000 teacher-selected pieces in various media from San Joaquin County students in kindergarten through 12th grade, with all public, private, charter, parochial, and home schools in the county invited to participate. The museum participates in Bank of America’s Museums on Us program and offers free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Armed Forces Day in May through Labor Day. The museum acknowledges that it is located on the traditional land of the Northern Valley Yokuts people and recognizes and honors their ancestors, descendants, elders, and all other members of their communities.
