About
New World Child Development Center includes activities in art, music, math, science, nature, reading, writing, and playground play. Children take part in science experiments, explore literature, go on field trips, and work on hands-on projects as part of the program.
New World Child Development Center offers a bilingual curriculum, including a Mandarin-English bilingual program. The program is academic based in a home-like setting and includes play areas for pretending, expressing, and imagining. It offers hot lunch and provides families with a calendar, newsletter, and forms. The educators and support staff are described as highly professional and trained, and every educator is a trained professional with a deep passion for education, with many having specialized training in fine arts such as music, art, and theater.
New World Learning Center was founded in 1998, and in 2004 it opened its Walnut Creek campus. The leadership team includes Co-Founders Dr. Lien-Hsin Chang and Ms. May Chen, along with Mr. Zane (Director / Yellow Room Teacher), Ms. Shilpi (Yellow Room Teacher), Ms. Cindy (Red Room Teacher), Ms. Maria (Red Room Teacher), Ms. Laurie (Blue Room Teacher), Ms. ZiJin (Blue Room Teacher), Ms. Yao (Rainbow Room Teacher), Ms. Murong (Rainbow Room Teacher), Ms. Mina (Rainbow Room Teacher), and Ms. Ruth (Rainbow Room Teacher). One member of the leadership also serves as a consultant to the community of early childhood education in Pingtung, Taiwan, and another served on the Child Care Advisory Board in the City of Sunnyvale.
New World Child Development Center states that its goal is to meet parents’ need by creating a balanced, harmonious environment where ethical standards are cultivated and the child’s potential is challenged. Its mission is to provide a variety of experiences and opportunities to learn, create, and discover the world, and to promote the development of the whole child through developing a positive and healthy self-image, promoting curiosity and interests in their world, helping the child master effective communication skills through an open environment, establishing sanitary health habits, fostering the unique creativity in each child, and facilitating learning about the world through science experiments, literature, field trips, and hands-on projects.
One parent testimonial describes New World as a Mandarin-English bilingual program with excellent teachers, a family-friendly feel, a focus on a well-rounded, happy and healthy child, one class for each age group, and reasonable tuition. Another parent notes that their son attended for two years and summer camp, looked forward to school every day, and especially enjoyed learning about the holidays, and mentions teachers Katherine and Justine as incredible. A third testimonial, from a former teacher, states that the academic level at the school is excellent and that the teachers are well-educated and warm, and includes a warm recommendation.
