The mission of Jeanette Airen Performing Arts Studio is to inspire through the arts to help others realize their full potential and be a positive influence in the community. Jeanette’s stated primary goal is to develop and deliver performing arts education that provides participants with knowledge and skills for future endeavors, with a curriculum rooted in confidence, creativity, communication, collaboration, citizenship, and character. The studio’s history includes the founding of JA Vocal Music in 2006, expansion to a facility in Canoga Park in 2010, additional instructors for instrumental and acting lessons by 2011, and a move back to the Conejo Valley in 2014, after which Jeanette Airen Performing Arts Studio continued to grow. The leadership team for the camps lists Jeanette Airen as Owner and Laurel Eith as Camp Teacher.
Students at the studio experience the opportunity to perform at community events, showcases, and musical theater productions. Families are asked to send children with their own non-perishable snacks and, for full days, a sack lunch, along with bottled water and a water bottle. Campers are expected to wear clothes that are easy to move and dance in, with tennis shoes preferred and flip flops not accepted; if a child arrives in flip flops, they are asked to go home and change into shoes more suitable for dancing. Electronics such as cell phones and video games may be kept in bags but are not allowed during camp time; if used during camp time, staff will take the device and return it when the child is picked up.
Parent and student testimonials describe Jeanette as a dedicated and professional teacher whose instruction has improved singing, vocal technique, confidence, and stage presence for various students, including children and college students. Testimonials also note her patience with children, her work on proper musical techniques, her encouragement and positive reinforcement, her help with songwriting, and her work on singing impressions, with one parent and several students stating that they plan to continue lessons with her or strongly recommend her instruction.
