The Belvedere-Tiburon Landmarks Society states that its mission is to acquire, preserve and maintain artifacts, landmarks, and open space of local historic significance and make them available to the public. The Landmarks History Collections houses a collection of photographs, fine art, artifacts, maps, documents, oral histories, and a reference library. The Landmarks Society, a non-profit history organization, manages and maintains Old St. Hilary’s Landmark and the surrounding wildflower preserve, the China Cabin, the Railroad & Ferry Depot Museum, and the Landmarks Art and Garden Center on the Tiburon Peninsula in Marin County. Group tours are available for all historical properties for groups of 20 or more, and the easiest accessible sites for group tours are the Railroad & Ferry Depot Museum and the China Cabin, while Old St. Hilary requires groups to walk about 100 yards uphill and cannot accommodate large buses. Landmarks historical sites are available for rent year round for private events for groups of any size up to 150, depending on the venue.

The organization’s leadership includes President Mark Freiberg and Vice President Phil Cassou, who is retired and serves as Railroad Museum Curator. The board includes professionals such as lawyer and Salmon Research Center director Brooke Halsey, Belvedere Land Company representative Jim Allen, realtor Ann Aylwin, tree surgeon and third-generation Tiburon native Peter Brooks, botanist Eva Buxton, senior client partner Melissa Feder, and retired members Bob Harris and Suzanne White. Site managers include Phil Cassou for the Railroad & Ferry Depot Museum, Helen Lindqvist for Old St. Hilary’s, Jean O’Korn for the China Cabin, and Suzanne White for the Art and Garden Center. The staff also includes Executive Director Patty Flax, Administrative Assistant Maren Jaffe, Rental Liaison Paige Petrini, and Archivist Jennifer Hartung.
