Gracie University

Gracie University offers instruction in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu through programs such as Gracie Combatives, Women Empowered, Gracie Bullyproof, Master Cycle, and Gracie Games. The program also includes specialized training options such as Law Enforcement (Gracie Survival Tactics / GST), Instructor Certification, SafeWrap, Gracie Medical Defense, and online seminars. Students can access free online lessons and a complete training path from white to black belt for at-home study.

Gracie University provides online learning with a Video Evaluation Process in which multiple instructors give detailed, time-coded feedback on student performance videos. Students can earn a Gracie Combatives belt through Video Evaluation or live testing at a Certified Training Center, and all official belt promotions from blue to black are earned via live testing at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Certified Training Centers. Gracie Combatives is the official beginner curriculum, and its techniques are geared towards violent physical encounters against attackers who do not follow jiu-jitsu training etiquette. The Master Cycle program covers advanced jiu-jitsu from blue to black belt. The Gracie University belt system emphasizes street self-defense techniques including distance management and punch protection, and sport BJJ belts from non-accredited schools are recognized in the student database but tagged as “unverified” until passing the Gracie Combatives test. Gracie University reports enrollment of 485,346 students in 196 countries and territories.
