South Bay Educational Therapy combines educational and therapeutic approaches for children, adolescents, and adults with learning disabilities and learning challenges, with a focus on remedial literacy and evidence-based, individualized interventions that strengthen executive functioning and support long-term academic success. The program uses a whole-child approach that moves away from narrowly defined academic achievement and includes a broader view of the skills and knowledge that children must develop for long-term success.

South Bay Educational Therapy uses a structured literacy approach for reading and evidence-based, individualized interventions, with treatment plans developed by founder Kevin Bansley and onboarded with a coach appropriate for the child. Educational therapists serve as case coordinators who collaborate with families, educators, and allied professionals, and treatment is continuously adapted to ongoing research and data and integrated with practitioner expertise and client preferences. The program offers comprehensive advocacy services and parent consultations, and allied professional April Rehrig is a Board Certified Educational Advocate (BCEA), Fellow of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, SEAT 0 & 3.0, veteran school psychologist, Licensed Educational Psychologist, Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (CASDCS), Master IEP Coach, and credentialed teacher. Kevin is involved in community service through work with non-profit agencies in the South Bay and Greater Los Angeles Area.
Parents have reported that South Bay Educational Therapy identified specific gaps in their children’s reading skills, created plans that made their children feel successful, and that their children’s confidence and interest in reading increased, including one child who began asking to read aloud at home. One parent of an eighth grader from Redondo Beach stated that the biggest change they saw was their child’s independence and that this reduced the need to hover at home. A mother of a student with dyslexia described years of trying tutors, programs, and school changes before working with Kevin and his team, and reported that reading support at South Bay Educational Therapy made reading start to make sense for her child and that he began going to school with confidence and happiness.
