About
South Bay Fencing Academy offers beginner, intermediate, advanced, and elite fencing classes. The program also runs Thanksgiving Camp, Winter Camp, and Spring Break Camp for fencers at different times of the year.
• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Friday 3:00 pm–9:00 pm; Saturday 9:00 am–2:00 pm
Founded in 2019, South Bay Fencing Academy operates in a 6000 sq/ft training center. The coaching staff includes Matteo Gallo, Maverick Doherty, and Gaspare Faugiana. The mission of the program is to run a high performance fencing program based on commitment and dedication, with a focus on hard work, sportsmanship, respect, discipline, the process of training, and the general well-being of each athlete. The coaches have helped students reach National Championships, NCAA Championships, World Championships, World Cups, Pan-American Championships, and other major events. Alumni from this program have been recruited to Columbia University, Northwestern University, Notre Dame, Penn State University, UCSD, Brandeis University, Oxford, Long Island University, Trinity College, and other schools. Members of the club include National Champions, European Champions, and national team members who compete nationally and internationally. The training camps include a Thanksgiving Camp (November 24–30), Winter Camp (December 26–31), and Spring Break Camp (April 6–12).
