The Way of the Shadow Martial Arts Academy offers martial arts instruction and training in practical self-protection through the art of Kage No Michi Ninjutsu. Students practice striking, joint locks, takedowns, throws, body conditioning, traditional and improvised weapons, ground fighting, and grappling. The program also offers NINJA SUMMER CAMP, the N.I.N.J.A.: ANTI-BULLYING SYSTEM, Birthday Parties, and Special Events.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Tuesday–Thursday afternoons and evenings, with additional Saturday sessions on the 2nd and 3rd weeks of the month
The mission of The Way of the Shadow Martial Arts Academy is to provide martial arts instruction and training in practical self-protection in a disciplined, realistic, safe, and enjoyable manner in order to help the student develop founded confidence and maximize their potential in all areas of life. The academy teaches Kage No Michi Ninjutsu, a modern style of Ninjutsu taught with and based upon traditional values and principles, emphasizing evasion, efficiency, and economy of motion using the entire body as a weapon and encompassing all ranges of combat, including long range, mid-range, clinch, and ground fighting. Techniques are based on time-tested principles of Ninjutsu and are designed for practical, modern self-protection for children and adults, with the focus described as “Not training for trophies; Training for Life.” All instructors have come up through the ranks of the Kage No Michi Ninjutsu system, and the program includes the S.H.A.D.O.W. Team extracurricular program to promote excellence in responsibility, leadership, and assertiveness and to develop future instructors.
The studio is traditionally styled and equipped with modern, top-quality mats from Zebra and traditional decor and design. The Way of the Shadow Martial Arts Academy is a community service-based school that has supported and participated with many local organizations and looks for ways to make a positive impact on the surrounding community. The academy was voted South Bay's Best Martial Arts School in the Daily Breeze's 2015 Annual Readers Choice Awards and offers a Free Week Trial.
