USA Sumo Educational Events and Sumo Classes

USA Sumo Educational Events and Sumo Classes offers sumo lectures and demonstrations at schools and other venues, with Q&A and interaction with World Sumo Champion athletes. It also offers sumo classes for men and women of all sizes, ages, and backgrounds. For classes, the first class is free, one class costs $30 ($15 for under 20), and a two-month package costs $100 ($50 for under 20).

About the provider

USA Sumo was established in 1998. Its mission includes teaching sumo techniques and tradition, training world class sumo athletes who compete internationally, educating the public about traditional Japanese sumo and international amateur sumo, promoting the sport through demonstrations, tournaments, and other events, and supporting international efforts to make sumo an Olympic sport. The organization has held dozens of sumo lectures and demonstrations at schools and other venues, and its US Sumo Open has been held since 2001.

Pay tuition before class begins. Please be punctual and show respect. Listen to the coach and focus on your own training. Everyone helps with set-up and breakdown. Keep active when not wrestling by watching others sparring and/or continuing warm-ups. First class is free. One class costs $30 ($15 for under 20). Two-month package costs $100 ($50 for under 20). Minimum of 6-8 classes per block. Classes are in Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr, May/Jun, Jul/Aug, Sep/Oct, and Nov/Dec blocks.
