Torrance Cultural Arts Center Classes and Programs take place within a complex that includes the James R. Armstrong Theatre, multiple studios, and museum and garden spaces. The complex houses 4 dance studios with sprung hardwood floors, a large ceramics facility, a jewelry making studio, 3 art-making studios, and a music/drama room. Most classes and all exhibitions and programs at the Torrance Art Museum are offered through the Cultural Services Division, Community Services Department.

The Torrance Cultural Arts Center includes the Toyota Meeting Hall, the Torino Festival Plaza, the Ken Miller Assembly Room, the Ken Miller Auditorium, the James R. Armstrong Theatre, the George Nakano Theatre, the Pine Wind Japanese Garden, the garden rooms, and the Torrance Art Museum. The James R. Armstrong Theatre has a 502-seat theatre with orchestra seating sections, removable seats allowing for six wheelchair spaces in various locations, permanent handrails throughout the perimeter of the Theatre House, and state-of-the-art stage and house lighting, audio system, intercom, and monitors. The theatre features an adjustable proscenium, a fly loft, black background and masking drapes with cyclorama, an orchestra shell with portable floor units and integrated lighting, an orchestra pit with adjustable heights for up to 25 musicians, and a projection screen measuring 10 by 20 feet. Available equipment includes platform and choral risers, lecterns, music stands and chairs, and several pianos, including a nine-foot concert grand, a six-foot grand, and a studio upright. The theatre also has fully equipped dressing rooms, performers’ restrooms, a hospitality green room, and a box office with two sales windows and a computerized ticketing system that supports telephone and internet ticket purchases by credit card. When the theatre is not occupied by a performance, the lobby area includes a marble counter for food service with adjacent refrigeration units, accessible restrooms, and public telephones.
