Happy Trails Riding Academy offers equine-assisted services that include therapeutic riding. Participants take part in structured riding sessions that use the horse’s three-dimensional movement as part of the experience.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
Happy Trails Riding Academy is a PATH International Premier Accredited Center. It serves children and adults with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities, including ADHD, developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and post-traumatic stress. Participants range in age from six to over 50, with most (about 90%) under the age of 18. The program uses a supportive group setting and the movement of the horse to address balance, strength, flexibility, communication, social skills, independence, and self-confidence. It is the only fully accredited therapeutic riding center in California’s San Joaquin Valley between Bakersfield and Modesto. The organization’s mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities through accredited equine-assisted services, fostering independence, confidence, and personal growth in a supportive and empowering environment. Happy Trails Riding Academy states that it strives to be a leading therapeutic riding facility with exceptional horses, safe and modern facilities, innovative programs, and resources to serve more individuals with disabilities while maintaining high standards of care and support.
