Glitter Barn

Glitter Barn offers hands-on art and crafting projects through art camps, drop-in classes, afterschool classes, homeschool enrichment, birthday parties, and themed kids’ maker experiences. Kids take part in week-long crafting experiences such as Spring Break Camp, Summer Maker Camps, and themed sessions like Fake Bake Factory, Charm Lab, Seashells and Sunshine Studio, Squish and Slime Studio, KPop Demon Hunters, Enchanted Forest, Crazy Cribs, Toy Shop, and Once Upon a Stuffie. The studio also runs Kids’ Maker Club, Mini Maker Club, ART Nights, Homeschool Makers, and birthday celebrations that include guided projects and process-based art.

Glitter Barn describes itself as Ventura's Newest All Ages Makers Space & Art Experience and Ventura's Favorite Creative Studio for Art Classes, Camps and Unforgettable Parties. Each week of Summer Maker Camp features a new hands-on theme that encourages kids to tinker, design, and bring imaginative ideas to life using a variety of materials and tools, and each day kids either bring home something they made or add to a larger project that comes home at the end of the week. The program notes that these projects require many supplies, which are factored into the cost of the camps, and that multi-camp discounts are available by email inquiry.

The mission of Glitter Barn is to create a welcoming space in its studio for kids to be themselves, to be creative, to make new friends, and to have fun, with a mix of environment, encouragement, and fun that supports each individual’s creative expression in the makerspace. The studio states that it offers a blend of guided projects and open-ended, process-based art, believes in playful, invitational and inclusive maker spaces, and is dedicated to removing barriers that keep people from pursuing their own creativity while offering a creative community space where everyone belongs. Glitter Barn also offers art and crafting experiences for all ages, including kids’ art classes and art experiences for teens and adults, and notes that families from Ventura to Santa Barbara have made it a favorite for creative camps.

The program describes its camps as a unique, personalized, memorable, week-long crafting experience that feels like a big party every day, with an optional Extended Studio Time from 9am–2pm for additional creating, games, and maker activities.

The leadership team includes Sarah and Benicia. Sarah has over 20 years of experience teaching kids and adults of all ages in private, public, and homeschool settings, holds Bachelor’s degrees from Westmont College and a graduate degree from Pepperdine University, and has received local and national awards for excellence in teaching and mentoring students. She is bilingual in Spanish and has a professional background in multicultural education and working with students with special needs. Benicia has extensive teaching experience with kids of all ages, including in Montessori classrooms, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Westmont College.
