Glitter Barn describes itself as a creative art studio, Ventura’s newest all-ages makers space and art experience, and a makerspace with a welcoming, safe, and supportive studio environment. The studio offers art and crafting experiences for all ages, homeschool programs, afterschool classes, and birthday celebrations, along with kids’ art classes and art experiences for teens and adults. The space is described as colorful, welcoming, playful, and inclusive, with a blend of guided projects and open-ended, process-based art, and a focus on experience, confidence, and creative spark rather than perfection. The program states a belief that every individual is an artist and describes its mission as creating a welcoming space for kids to be themselves, be creative, make new friends, and have fun, with a goal of removing barriers that keep people from pursuing their own creativity and offering a creative community space where everyone belongs.

Owner Sarah has over 20 years of experience teaching kids and adults of all ages in private, public, and homeschool settings, holds Bachelor’s degrees from Westmont College and a graduate degree from Pepperdine University, and has received local and national awards for excellence in teaching and mentoring students. She is bilingual in Spanish and has a professional background in multicultural education and working with students with special needs. Art teacher Benicia has extensive teaching experience with kids of all ages, including in Montessori classrooms, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Westmont College, and is an accomplished local musician with her own band. Glitter Barn describes its instructors as trained and caring creative instructors who really love working with kids.

Glitter Barn offers creative kids camps in Ventura throughout the year, including summer, school breaks, and special sessions, with thoughtfully designed themes that spark imagination. The program notes that each day kids either bring home something they made or work all week on a big project, and that multi-camp discounts are available. The studio describes itself as providing joyful art experiences for all ages as drop-in classes or series, and as a space that feels “a little bit magical”—colorful, welcoming, and designed for joyful creativity.

Glitter Barn serves kids across Ventura and Santa Barbara counties and has done special events for scout troops. Parent testimonials describe fun-filled learning experiences, kids looking forward to returning, birthday celebrations at the studio, and projects such as scented candles, homemade candles, and a light saber. Multiple parents mention kids developing friendships, enjoying ART Nights described by one child as “the best party ever,” and positive experiences with Sarah and the teaching staff, including individualized attention and communication about how children are doing.
