Ventura Makos Surf Camp

Ventura Makos Surf Camp offers surf lessons, surf camps, and year round surf programs. The program includes Spring After School Surf Classes, Spring Break Surf Camp, Mini Makos Surf Classes, Homeschool Surf Classes, and private and small group lessons for all ages.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Homeschool Surf Classes run March–May; online registration closes 24 hours before the start of the session.

Ventura Makos Surf Camp and Silver Strand Surf Camps are for ages 8–15, Mini Makos for ages 4–7 will be offered at Harbor Cove, and Teen Surf Camp at Silver Strand Beach is for ages 13–17. Private and small group lessons are available to all ages. Groups are organized with 4–5 participants per 1 instructor, and the safety ratio is 1 instructor to 5 participants, with Mini Makos at a 1 instructor to 3 participants ratio. The program does not allow drop-ins, and online registration closes 24 hours before the start of the session. Last minute cancellations are not refunded, and cancellation must be made 1 week prior for a full refund. All students take their company wetsuits home daily to rinse and clean and bring them back the following day, and all participants must return company wetsuits on Friday. All participants and instructors sign a specific waiver to participate.

Ventura Makos is described as the #1 surf school and instruction in Ventura County and has provided surf instruction for over the last decade. The staff includes lifeguards, EMTs, professional surfers, and experienced water-men and water-women in California, and all employees are required to be First Aid and CPR certified. The stated mission is to provide the best possible surf experience, create a safe and positive atmosphere for participants to thrive in, and create memories that will last a lifetime. The program accepts charter school funds.
