About
Gino's Soccer Academy is a week-long soccer program where players take part in full day camps from 9am–3pm, half day camps from 9am–12pm, half day afternoon-only sessions from 12pm–3pm during weeks 2–4, and extended half day camps from 9am–1pm during weeks 2–4. Daily activities include work on directional possession, attacking principles, finishing abilities, attacking and defending principles, and how to play different positions, along with skill-building games, individual player development, small group play, small-sided games, and a full-sided game.
• Ages: 4–17 years old
• Schedule: Week-long program with full day and half day camp options
This is the 30th year of Gino's Soccer Academy, and over 10,000 players have participated in the program. The academy works with competitive and recreational soccer players and teams, including beginning and advanced players, and some alumni have gone on to play high school and college soccer. Former participants return to work on the coaching staff, and players receive thousands of touches on the ball throughout the week. Morning sessions focus on individual player development and small group play, and afternoons build to more small-sided games and end with a full-sided game. The program’s mission states that with younger players the emphasis is on building joy in playing the game along with skills and confidence with the ball, and with older or more experienced players the focus is on attacking play, control, and decision-making with the application of defensive pressure in exercises, with core values to build player confidence, inspire through achievement, challenge players to develop new skills, educate about the game of soccer, and create lasting memories.
Tom "Gino" Ginocchio leads Gino's Soccer Academy and holds a USSF National “B” coaching license, an NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, and a US Soccer Director of Coaching Diploma. He has served as Director of Coaching for Walnut Creek Soccer Club (2007–2018), Impact Soccer Club (2018–2022), and Revolution Football Club, a merged club from Impact SC and Ajax East Bay (2022–present). He also serves on Norcal Premier Soccer’s Board of Directors, which focuses on elevating soccer in Northern California.
