Diablo Ballet School Summer Intensive offers daily training in ballet technique, pointe, pre-pointe, pas de deux, variations, repertoire, character, flamenco, contemporary, and musical theatre. Students also take classes in dance history, nutrition, injury prevention, Pilates, and conditioning, along with specified barre work (including pliés in 1st, 2nd and 5th, tendus, dégagés, rond de jambes par terre, frappé, brief adagio, and grand battements), centre work (adagio, small jumps, and a pirouette combination), and pointe work (relevés in 1st and 2nd, sous-sus, échappés, and passé). The program is offered in two levels, Intermediate and Advanced, with advanced female students required to have at least two years of pointe training, and students are placed into levels on the first day of the Intensive.

• Schedule: Four-week Summer Intensive running July 6–31, Monday through Friday from 10:00 am–3:30 pm, with options to attend 3 weeks, 2 weeks, or 1 week.
• Price: The cost is $1600 for the full 4-week program if registered before March 27 and $1700 on or after March 28; 3 weeks for $1350, 2 weeks for $950, or 1 week for $500, plus a $50 registration fee for students not currently enrolled in Diablo Ballet School, a nonrefundable $200 deposit due at registration (charged to the credit card on file), final payment due June 5, a 10% discount for multiple students in one family, accepted payment plans, and a $45 video audition fee.

Acceptance to Diablo Ballet School’s Summer Intensive is by audition only, and auditions are open to dancers of all genders who have achieved intermediate or advanced levels of ballet training. Auditions can be completed in person or by video submission, and video applications will be accepted through May 29, 2026, or until the Intensive is full. For video auditions, applicants submit a video no longer than 5 minutes to [email protected] that includes specified barre, centre, and pointe elements.

Students receive training from Diablo Ballet’s professional dancers, Diablo Ballet School faculty, and world-renowned guest instructors, and class size will be limited. Diablo Ballet School Summer Intensive takes place in Diablo Ballet’s brand-new studios in Walnut Creek and is described as a healthy and welcoming environment. Registration opens March 6, 2026, and space will be limited.

Diablo Ballet is an award-winning, internationally recognized, professional dance company founded in 1993, and it launched Diablo Ballet School in 2019. The company’s mission is to enrich, inspire, and educate children and adults through the art of dance. Diablo Ballet’s leadership team includes Artistic Director Lauren Jonas, Director of Operations Krissy Gray, Audience Development Manager Dan Meagher, Community Engagement staff member Susan Boreliz, Diablo Ballet School Principal Andrea Gaudet, PR Manager Shannon Stowe, PEEK Associate Director Rosselyn Ramirez, Stage Manager Rachelle Stone, Technical Director Josh Stouffer, and Lighting Designer Cassie Barnes.

Diablo Ballet’s community involvement includes making professional-quality dance available to residents of Contra Costa County and surrounding counties, promoting alliances with businesses, schools, and other non-profit organizations to enhance arts education, and supporting youth by using the arts to teach in-school lessons of self-esteem, group process, and artistic expression. Its PEEK Outreach Program has provided free education to over 75,000 school children since 1995 and serves at-risk teenage girls and boys incarcerated in the Juvenile Justice System.
