About
Ji Sung Taekwondo offers Taekwondo and Tae Kwon Do training, including a Taekwondo Trial Program and Special Team Training. The program takes place in modern, well-equipped facilities with spacious training areas and specialized equipment.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Friday in the afternoon and early evening, with Special Team Training on Saturdays; one-week trial program available
The program is led by Master Kim, a three-time world champion in Taekwondo and an instructor and coach with over 20 years of experience teaching high-level Tae Kwon Do internationally. Master Kim’s background includes gold medals at the World Taekwondo Championships in 2006, 2007, and 2008 in the Individual, Male, Senior 1 Division, membership on the Korean National Team from 2006 to 2008, participation on the Kukkiwon Demonstration Team and the Korean National Demonstration Team, and coaching roles for the Ecuador National Team and the Chinese National Team at the World University Games in Shenzhen in 2011. Since 2012, Master Kim has served as Head Coach for the UC Berkeley Taekwondo Team and, since 2017, as Head Coach for Team Kim BoHyeon.
According to the school’s mission statement, the program emphasizes strong work ethics and discipline while keeping training fun and challenging, and the masters focus on developing positive habits at an early stage to build a martial arts and self-defense foundation for students young and old. One parent testimonial from Christina P. describes her children’s experiences training with Master Kim over several years, including participation in local tournaments in the USA and Korea and observations about the quality of instruction, practice, and character emphasized through the five tenets of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.
