Kid Time is a family-owned childcare company with four sites. Kid Time has been providing quality childcare in the Walnut Creek area since 1984. The program follows a child-centered philosophy that bases decisions on the individual needs of each child rather than the convenience of the adults involved. It uses a play-based environment and a play-based curriculum with full evaluations for parents before children graduate, and it offers kindergarten readiness in social-emotional, physical, and academic areas.

Kid Time has three classes that are organized by developmental readiness rather than calendar age. The program does not use scheduled potty times and instead takes children individually when they need to go. It offers a non-nap group for children who have grown out of naps. The program encourages healthy eating without requiring children to clean their plate. Teachers encourage and teach problem solving and help children work out conflicts individually. Children go outside in cold, hot, and sometimes sprinkling rain. The environment is inclusive to all kinds of families and includes spaces curated for children with lots of energy and for children who prefer more individual play.

Kid Time prides itself on being a community for its staff and families and offers many opportunities for people to meet and spend time together, including picnics, potlucks, Ooey Gooey Night, Kid Time Campout, Cinco de Mayo, and Baby Olympics. The program offers many community events for families, including camping for everyone. Leah Rosenthal-Kambic serves as Director, Co-Owner, and, as of January 2018, the owner of Kid Time; Jessica is the Multi-Site Coordinator and Co-Owner; and Kirsti is the Admin Manager/Unicorn. Leah obtained a BA from UC Berkeley in 2005 in Social Welfare. In 2022, Miss Leah started a parent coaching business called Parent Time and also hosts the Parent Time podcast.

Parent testimonials describe staff who truly care, a comprehensive program that focuses on allowing a child's emerging personality to blossom and preparing them for life, and children who are well-equipped for kindergarten after three years at Kid Time. One parent notes that their family is still connected with the staff 13 years later and describes Kid Time as a place with a very strong community, an emphasis on acceptance, and learning through play. Another parent highlights the lack of staff turnover, the same teachers working with both of their children over four years, and Leah’s statement that children may come home covered in paint or grime because the mission is to let kids play and have fun. A further testimonial mentions a wonderful yard, happy and engaged children, cheerful staff, on-site-cooked meals, a learning-through-play philosophy, and a helpful, can-do problem-solving approach from the director, Leah.
