About
Walnut Acres Children’s Center offers a fun, nurturing place where little learners grow, explore, and create every day by “Learning through Play.” The program provides an environment based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, encouraging children to learn, create, and play using eight kinds of intelligence: verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical-rhythmic, naturalist, people and social intelligence, and self intelligence. Summer options include Learning through PLAY for school-aged children, the Summer 2026 Pathfinders program for K–5th graders, and Little Acres Camp for 4–5 year olds, with Summer Camp Dress Up Days and field trips where campers are asked to arrive by 9:00 a.m.
• Ages: 4–11 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
The staff at Walnut Acres Children’s Center are composed of teachers who are devoted to the well being of each child. The program philosophy includes allowing choice, encouraging children to go play, recognizing that play is not frivolous, seeing learning in play, trusting children as learners, and trusting play. The mission of Walnut Acres Children’s Center states a commitment to providing physical and emotional safety for all children, to balancing self-expression and group responsibility, and to the trust that parents place in the center and doing everything possible to fulfill that trust.
