About
Southeast Ventura County YMCA Summer Camps offer a variety of options, including Traditional Summer Day Camp, Adventure Camp (Travel), EXPO Camp, Preschool Mini Camp, Sports Camp, Leadership in Training Camp, and Counselors in Training (CIT). Campers can also access year-round swimming, group exercise classes, youth classes, and boxing as part of the broader Southeast Ventura County YMCA programs.
• Ages: 3–15 years old
• Schedule: Regular camp hours are 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with extended care available at no additional charge from 7:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
• Price: $300 provides one week of summer camp; $2,500 sends a child to summer camp for 8 weeks.
The Southeast Ventura County YMCA states that it builds relationships, impacts lives and strengthens community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. It began in 1964 as one small effort to serve the community and is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization dedicated to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The organization notes that it counts on the generosity of the community to provide financial assistance so families can access its programs, and financial assistance is available for summer camps.
The camps provide daily round-trip shuttle service from the Yarrow Family YMCA to the Conejo Valley YMCA Day Camp and offer extended care at no additional charge. Families are asked to send a healthy packed lunch, snacks for morning and afternoon, sunblock, a swimsuit and towel, and a refillable water bottle, with all belongings labeled, and children are expected to wear light, durable clothes and closed-toed shoes, with sandals or flip-flops only packed for water play days. Parents are asked to supply sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 for their child’s use, and the YMCA states it will not be responsible for loss or theft of items brought to camp.
The program notes that all camp payments are due in full before a child can attend, new registration must be completed 24 hours before the next camp day, and all changes to enrollment must be submitted two weeks in advance. The YMCA office must receive notification of intent to cancel at least two weeks before the start of the session for a refund of program fees, and if a child is asked to leave camp due to a violation of a camp policy, program fees will not be refunded.
