VS Music Studios offers voice lessons, music lessons, and private and group lessons in areas such as piano, guitar, ukulele, drums and percussion, keyboard, violin, and cello. The program also offers acting classes, vocal therapy, master classes, coaching, music directing, recording studio services, production company services, and shows throughout the year, including New Years Shows/TET, Valentines Day shows, Spring/Summer/Beach Shows, and a Christmas Show. VS Music Studios runs Summer Group Classes for kids in singing, acting, and dance, including classes that prepare for performances at the OC Fair, and it is home to The Pineapple Kids Show and The Nook, which features interviews with professionals in the entertainment industry.

VS Music Studios describes itself as “Voice, Music, Acting & More – Where Creativity Comes to Life” and as “a family and a network to help professional, pre-professional and beginner artists alike become more independent and knowledgable, develop skills, build confidence and grow.” VS Music Studios (VSMS) is owned and operated by co-founders Van Bich Nguyen and Sean Buhr, who also founded Van and Sean Music Studios and perform together as a professional touring duo called Van and Sean, with performances at venues including The Kennedy Center and The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Plaza. VSMS is owned and operated by former New York University (NYU) professors Van Bich Nguyen and Sean Buhr, who met in graduate school at NYU while earning multiple master’s degrees in Vocal Performance, Musical Theatre, and Vocal Pedagogy, and together they taught voice at NYU for about 10 years combined.
Bich-Van was previously trained at the National Music Conservatory in Vietnam and at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in Long Beach, California, and she graduated with a Master’s in Musical Theater at New York University and an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy, with over fifteen years of teaching experience including two years on the faculty of New York University. Some acting teachers at VS Music Studios are from NYU and NYU Tisch School of Drama in New York City. VS Music Studios is an approved servicer for kids and people with Autism and works with kids with autism and non-verbal kids, as well as people with disabilities, adults with chronic vocal issues or trauma, Broadway and Hollywood actors, touring artists, aspiring professionals, karaoke singers, and people who have never sung.
VS Music Studios has been operating online teaching for over 15 years and currently teaches people online in North America, Asia, Europe, South America, and Australia, with a client base that includes adults and kids from around the globe with ages ranging from 2 years to the mid 90s. About 60% of clients are adults and 40% are kids. The studio offers specialties including vocal rehabilitation and commercial music and hosts annual MasterClasses with Tony and Grammy Award winning and nominated artists, directors, actors, casting directors, agents, and producers.
VS Music Studios has students heavily involved in major events within the Vietnamese community in Orange County and also outside of California and overseas, with students performing every year on TV and at festivals and fairs celebrating Vietnamese culture. The studio has strong cultural ties with Vietnamese, Spanish/Latin American, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Israeli, Arab, and Filipino communities. It is home to the Pineapple Kids Show and its programs and uses the pineapple as a symbol of welcome with the motto: “Stand Tall Wear a Crown Be Sweet on the Inside.”
Hundreds of clients from VS Music Studios have worked as leads on Broadway, in Hollywood or feature films, on TV, and in the recording industry, as touring artists, signed with record labels, and as finalists for competitions including American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and Vietnam Idol.
