About

The Youth Theatre Arts Program includes acting, singing, dancing, voice production, choreography, additional off-stage experiences, and collaboration and teamwork with fellow cast and crew members. Students at the Youth Theatre Arts Program participate in 8 weeks of rehearsals and 6 performances. Past productions in the Youth Theatre Gallery include Wonka Jr (Summer 2024), Annie Jr (Summer 2023), Aladdin Jr (Summer 2022), Wizard of Oz (Summer 2019), and Alice in Wonderland (Summer 2018).

The Youth Theatre Arts Program is an educational theatre program at the Westminster Community Playhouse that is committed to providing many remarkable opportunities to students. The leadership team includes Maria O'Connor (Director), Priscilla Gonzalez-Suciu (Director), Ashley Rowlett (Choreographer), Jaylyn Kahle (Stage Manager), and Karen, who is a choreographer for The Youth Theatre Arts Program. Maria has experience in acting, ballet, producing, and directing, has performed on stages across Southern California’s theatre circuit, has directed shows for children and adults, has appeared on television in episodic and independent films, and has taught a children’s acting workshop for Long Beach Parks and Recreation, as well as being involved with Stearns Musical Theater for the city of Long Beach. She also serves on the board of directors at Theatre Palisades in Malibu and volunteers at other community theatre venues in Southern California. Priscilla holds a BA in Theatre from Cal State Chico, has directed at the Westminster Playhouse and other venues in Orange County and Northern California, serves on the board of directors at WCP, worked for six years as a director for children’s theatre in Northern California, and has a Master’s Degree in Education from Cal State Fullerton, working as an education specialist for early childhood in Orange County. Her areas of study include tap, jazz, ballet, and voice with Long Beach studios and teachers, and her performance experience includes Parades & Characters at Disneyland, Teatro Martini Dinner Cabaret, The Gem Theater, and television shows such as CSI and Criminal Minds.
