Wayfinder’s Camp Bloomfield has been sharing the joys of the great outdoors with children and families since 1958. The program offers activities adapted for children of all ages and abilities and gives them a natural and safe environment to develop self-esteem and build independence. Camp Bloomfield is the only one of its kind for children with multiple disabilities and blindness in the state of California that is offered free of charge to participants. The traditional program includes three sessions of recreational and camping programs for all ages and abilities in 2026, and each session will be at a different location. The youth/teen session is for ages 7–17 who are blind or visually impaired, the family camp session allows caregivers and their children who are blind, visually impaired or have multiple disabilities to attend along with siblings, and the adult camp session is for adults who are blind or visually impaired. In addition to Camp Bloomfield, Wayfinder’s recreation program also offers adaptive sports and memorable trips for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Wayfinder’s Camp Bloomfield is accredited by the American Camp Association. The leadership team includes Claire Veroda, Associate Vice President of Communications. One camper, Audrey, age 15, attended camp nine months after losing much of her vision following surgery to remove a brain tumor that was pressing on her optic nerve, and post-surgery she has a small circle of vision without top, bottom or peripheral sight.
