Wayfinder’s Camp Bloomfield has been sharing the joys of the great outdoors with children and families since 1958. The program offers activities adapted for children of all ages and abilities and gives them a natural and safe environment to develop self-esteem and build independence. Camp Bloomfield is the only one of its kind for children with multiple disabilities and blindness in the state of California that is offered free of charge to participants. The traditional program promises three sessions of recreational and camping programs for all ages and abilities, set in a safe and natural environment. The youth/teen session is for ages 7–17 who are blind or visually impaired. Caregivers can attend the Family Camp session along with their children who are blind, visually impaired or have multiple disabilities, and siblings can also join. The adult session is for adults who are blind or visually impaired. Despite the loss of the Malibu site, the organization is actively seeking a new location to cater to campers’ needs. Wayfinder’s Camp Bloomfield is accredited by the American Camp Association, which signifies that the camp meets high standards for quality, safety and operations.

Wayfinder Family Services states that it is the place to turn for people facing the greatest challenges and provides expert, individualized support and services to children, youth and adults, from those who have vision loss or profound special needs to foster youth with serious medical conditions or trauma, and their families. The organization states that it strives to empower individuals, support families and strengthen communities through four overlapping areas of impact. Claire Veroda is listed as the Associate Vice President of Communications. One camper story notes that Audrey, age 15, had lost much of her vision only nine months before she arrived at camp, after doctors removed a brain tumor that was pressing on her optic nerve, and that post-surgery she has a small circle of vision without top, bottom or peripheral sight.
