Millibo Summer Camps are offered by the Millibo Art Theatre, which was founded in 2001 by Jim Jackson and Birgitta De Pree and is now celebrating its 23rd season with over twenty years of experience creating new theatre for the Pikes Peak region. The camps are especially developed to empower students to express their unique creativity and explore the possibilities of the performing arts through theatre, movement, music, improv, circus, and visual arts. The theatre, rehearsal studio, and outdoor tent are used as learning spaces, and camps are grouped by age with limited enrollment so that each student’s experience is personal, up-close, and hands-on.

For ages 4 to Kindergarten, Millibo Summer Camps focus on the process of creation rather than pushing toward a production, and parents are invited on the last day of class for a fun and interactive sharing of the process. Each day for Grades 1 to 2 includes theatre, movement, hands-on art activities, and an outdoor snack break in the garden. Teen Volunteers for Summer Camps 2026 are being sought to join the Education Team in June and July for in-person summer camps.

Millibo Art Theatre states that it offers big adventures for curious minds all summer long and that it is recognized as an arts leader in the community with numerous award-winning shows and exciting community collaborations. The organization describes its mission as exploring new avenues for empowering and engaging artists, audiences, and the community in the creation and appreciation of new theatre, presenting adventurous theatre productions that impact the imagination, widen world views, and reveal common humanity. It also notes that it offers the community opportunities to experience new theatre from around the nation, provides Colorado artists with a home to create new work, welcomes children and adults into the creative process through workshops with professional performing artists, and brings work outside the theatre walls through touring and arts residencies.

Families are asked to send children in comfortable clothing suitable for movement and play, and to make sure each child has had a healthy and satisfying meal before camp. Campers should bring a healthy snack and water each day, and a lunch for full-day camps, and are asked not to bring toys, soda, or candy. If a child or parent is feeling sick or experiencing COVID symptoms, they are instructed to stay home and return when feeling better and after testing negative for COVID. Check-in takes place at the entrance to the building, where parents park and walk the child to the front and find the sign for the correct camp. Every student must have a signed parent release form on file before camp starts, completed through an online waiver emailed two weeks before camp (one waiver covers multiple camps), and parents are asked to sign a medical release form at the start of camp and inform staff of any allergies or other medical needs.
