About
PSD Future Ready / Career & Technical Education (CTE) Pathways includes activities such as job shadows, internships, volunteerism, paid work, apprenticeships, career tours and job shadowing. The program connects students with work-based learning experiences that involve future employers.
• Ages: 11–18 years old
• Schedule: Students, families and community members are encouraged to stop by Monday–Friday anytime between 8am–5pm.
Poudre School District opened The Future Ready Center in September 2023 as a resource center for all the programs happening across the district, a community hub and a centrally located large-scale meeting space that is front-facing to the community in the city of Fort Collins. The mission of PSD Future Ready / CTE Pathways is stated as: “In Poudre School District, we want every student to graduate from high school with options.” Through partnerships with Front Range Community College and Aims Community College, PSD students can explore college-level academics and career pathways before earning their high school diplomas.
Students in PSD Future Ready / CTE Pathways can earn college credit tuition free while in high school and may take accredited college-level courses at their high school through the FRCC High School Select program. They can also take college-level courses on campus at Front Range Community College and Aims Community College through the Campus Select program, qualify for the 5th year tuition-free ASCENT (Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment), and earn a tuition-free associate degree. Students can explore from over 18 pathways, each with three to four sequenced courses, and can enter a pathway or explore at any point in their 6th–12th grade journey, with very few prerequisites. Students who take multiple courses within a pathway may have the opportunity to earn industry certifications and college credit while still in high school. All pathways include work-based learning experiences such as career tours, job shadowing and internships, and students can explore jobs in areas such as agriculture, cybersecurity, health science, business and marketing. PSD courses, apprenticeships and internships involve learning to work as a team, meet deadlines and solve real-world problems, and students can form lasting relationships with business mentors and future employers while gaining academic knowledge, technical skills and industry certifications.
The leadership team includes Director, Career & Innovation: Tanya Alcaraz; Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator: Kelsey Burger; Community & Business Development Coordinator: Nick Peterson; Concurrent Enrollment Coordinator: Kristen Besanceney; Work-Based Learning Coordinator, Small Schools: Emily Breese; Site Director, Career Tech Center: Daryl Solomon; Department Secretary, Career & Innovation: Amber Battiato; Career and Technical Education Department Tech: Sherri Ladzinski; Digital Equity Liaison: Humberto Cruzado-Novoa; and College and Career Specialist: Eldin Lopez-Pascual.
