Poudre High School, 215 E Foothills Pkwy, Suite 510, Fort Collins, CO 80525
About
STEM-X Summer Program offers full day classes in STEM and STEM-adjacent subject areas for one week in June. The program includes a range of STEM-focused classes as well as multidisciplinary classes that include the arts and literature. Each class showcases its work on Friday for a half hour, and campers receive t-shirts.
• Ages: 9–13 years old
• Schedule: Full-day classes from 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. for one week in June
STEM-X Summer Program is offered by Poudre School District for students in Northern Colorado who are entering grades 4–8. STEM-X classes are taught by licensed teachers who have passion and expertise in their fields, and the program has a full-time nurse on staff who can distribute medication when parents or guardians complete the required authorization and release form. Lunch is provided through participation in the Summer Food Service Program. Adult volunteer roles include field trip drivers, field trip chaperones, lunch helpers, and topic experts, and all volunteers age 18 and older must register with Poudre School District and complete background checks. High school and college students can volunteer as part of Delta Force, a select group whose mission is to help create STEM opportunities for the next generation and who see themselves as a “Force for Change.” Since its inception, STEM-X, formerly called “STEM Institutes,” has provided summer programming to thousands of learners and has expanded to include the arts, theatre, and music, which is reflected in the “X” in its name. The program’s mission statement is “STEM-X Spark Passion. Build Confidence. Inspire Action.” STEM-X is listed as one of the programs people can learn about at the PSD Future Ready Center, and due to facility renovations, it will be pausing programming for Summer 2026. The leadership team includes Director of Career & Innovation Tanya Alcaraz, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator Kelsey Burger, Community & Business Development Coordinator Nick Peterson, Site Director of the Career Tech Center Daryl Solomon, Work-Based Learning Coordinator for Small Schools Emily Breese, Department Secretary for Career & Innovation Amber Battiato, College and Career Specialist Eldin Lopez-Pascual, Career and Technical Education Department Tech Sherri Ladzinski, and Digital Equity Liaison Humberto Cruzado-Novoa.
