About
Mountain Biking Camp – Golden focuses on mountain biking, trail riding, and learning mountain biking skills. Campers practice technical skills including bunny hops, track stands, braking, and shifting, and they also learn bicycle maintenance basics such as safety checking their bikes, solving gear problems, and changing flat tires.

• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday–Friday

Instructors are all 18 and older, described as insatiable outdoors experts with serious safety and skills training. The program is led by founder David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states a mission that kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking, and the Mountain Biking Camp – Golden is part of these offerings. The organization is a Certified B Corp, is accredited by the American Camp Association, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service.
Campers are grouped by grade range, either 2nd–4th graders or 5th–7th graders, and transportation is provided to and from recreation areas with access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids. Campers are strongly encouraged to use their own bikes that are tuned, fit them well, and are appropriate for dirt trails with hand brakes, gears, and wider tires; a bike rental option is available during registration. To register, campers must be able to bike confidently without training wheels on a dirt surface, and if they do not meet this minimum skill requirement, the camp may move them to a different program if space is available or remove them from the group and offer a credit. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong, and the program states that it gives kids the knowledge and confidence to take calculated, well-communicated risks.
Avid4 Adventure offers day camps and extended overnight options, and its programs evolve as campers grow from age 3 to 17. The organization describes its summer camps as highly acclaimed and backs its camps with the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which includes a promise to provide an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence; if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free. Testimonials from parents in September 2023 describe children learning to ride without training wheels, being eager to share what they learned each day, and wanting to return the following year.
