About
Mountain Biking Camp – Lafayette focuses on mountain biking and trail riding, including riding on rolling single and double track terrain, descending and ascending trail sections, and riding narrow and winding trails. Campers practice bike maintenance skills such as safety checking bikes, solving gear problems, and changing flat tires. They also work on learning to properly fit a helmet and bike, practicing basic bike commands, bunny hops, track stands, braking, and shifting.

• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday–Friday, with core camp hours from 9 AM to 3 PM and optional extended care from 8 AM to 5:30 PM

Campers are strongly encouraged to use their own bikes that are tuned, fit them well, and are appropriate for riding on dirt trails with hand brakes, gears, and wider tires; bike rental is available during registration. In order to register, campers must be able to bike confidently without training wheels on a dirt surface. Transportation is provided to and from recreation areas, and campers have access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids. Campers are grouped by grade range into 2nd–4th graders or 5th–7th graders, and adventures are customized so campers progress as their comfort and skill level grow.
Instructors are described as insatiable outdoors experts who love adventuring and working with kids, are all 18 and older, and have serious safety and skills training. The leadership team is headed by David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that at Avid4 Adventure kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. The organization is accredited by the American Camp Association, named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps, and is a Certified B Corp committed to public transparency and accountability.
Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service. The program is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which promises an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence, and if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free. Programs with Avid4 Adventure evolve as campers grow from age 3 through 17, and its summer camps are described as highly acclaimed.
